Second Surf (or Seconds) is a 2 km long, south-west facing, exposed, high energy beach on the western side of Cape Paterson.  It is backed by up to several hundred metres of dunes that have blown across the cape toward the town. A walking track leads to the beach from the Cape Paterson SLSC car park.The beach receives waves that are reduced slightly by the offshore reef, and which average 1.4 m. They produce an attached bar cut by rips every 250 m, with some rips permanently located against inshore reefs.
